Primary focus · AI data centers
Energy control for the AI load.
High power density, fast load changes, the need for continuity and pressure on grid capacity meet in the same facility. Data centers are our primary focus.
The need
An AI load behaves unlike a classic data-center load.
- 01
Load changes in milliseconds
The load ramps as a job starts, overshoots at the peak, falls idle and oscillates while running. Storage covers the difference and leaves the grid a smooth profile.
- 02
Access to power
How fast new capacity arrives depends on the availability and flexibility of the power that feeds it. Storage and control help make better use of the existing connection.
- 03
Control that stays on site
Operators want control that runs inside the site, does not depend on the cloud and follows their own security rules.
Our approach
We meet the load swing across different time scales.
We are designing the BBU to absorb millisecond surges closest to the server rack and the facility battery to cover longer swings. Site decides which source acts when; Sense and Core bring the battery's real capacity at that moment into the decision.
Power distribution
From the grid to the server rack, one chain.
Power reaches the server racks from the grid or a generator, through medium-voltage distribution and the uninterruptible power supply. The battery carries the load while the source changes; the BBU does the same job closest to the server. We are developing Site to coordinate the sources in this chain as one system.
UPS type
The grid feeds the load through the MV UPS. The battery stays charged on the UPS DC link; the BBU stands by inside the rack.
Where Wattality products sit
- Site
- Designed to coordinate grid, generator and battery as one system, from outside the protection chain. Trips and interlocks stay hardwired.
- Sense · Core
- Cell-level measurement and pack control for the UPS battery.
- BBU
- Backup power on the rack's own power line.
